Less than 1% of US offshore energy is open for development. Natural gas and oil are projected to sustain nearly half of the world’s energy through 2050.
Accelerating Energy Innovations
Timely construction of modern, innovative natural gas and oil infrastructure is important to Americans’ ability to access energy they can rely on every day. Products made from oil and natural gas and delivered by infrastructure systems make everyday living more mobile, comfortable and healthier.
Restricting needed infrastructure limits access to energy and increases costs.
It takes longer to obtain a permit in America than to earn a college degree.
At least 10 major infrastructure projects, representing more than $34 billion in capital expenditures, have been cancelled or are at risk of cancellation because of an uncertain federal review and permitting process.
America is producing oil and natural gas cleaner than ever before – as well as the products made from them. In fact, vehicles today run 99% cleaner than 1970s models, thanks to improved fuels and new engine technologies. The increased use of natural gas in generating electricity is a key reason U.S. CO2 emissions have fallen to generational lows, accounting for more than 60% of CO2 emission reductions in that sector since 2005.
